Application deadlines for the 2025/2026 Academic Year

1st Call:

  • Applications: February 24 to March 24, 2025
  • Validation and ranking of applications: March 25 to April 1, 2025
  • Announcement of the results: April 3, 2025
  • Registration and enrolment: April 7 to April 14, 2025

 

2nd Call (for vacancies left over from the 1st Call):

  • Applications: April 16 to May 9, 2025
  • Validation and ranking of applications: May 13 to May 20, 2025
  • Announcement of the results: May 21, 2025
  • Registration and enrolment: May 26 to June 6, 2025

 

3rd Call (for places left over from the 2nd Call):

  • Applications: June 11 to June 18, 2025
  • Validation and ranking of applications: June 20 to June 23, 2025
  • Announcement of the results: June 24, 2025
  • Registration and enrolment: June 25 to June 27, 2025

List of documents

  1. Scanned passport or national identity card of the country of origin.
  2. Sworn statement that the applicant is not Portuguese and meets the conditions for taking part in the competition.
  3. Scanned document certifying completion of Portuguese secondary education or equivalent.
  4. Document certifying that the academic qualifications obtained in the country of origin give access to higher education. The relevant authority in the applicant’s country of origin must validate this document.
  5. Document certifying the final grades obtained:
  •  in the final Portuguese secondary education examinations (ENES form) corresponding to the higher education entrance examinations for applicants who have completed secondary education in Portugal, or for applicants who have completed secondary education in another country and who have taken the examinations as self-proposed students; or
  • in the higher education entrance examinations in another country.
  • If applicants are unable to provide the document referred to in the previous paragraph, they must provide a self-declaration stating the final grades obtained and present a document certifying them within three months of the start of the cycle of studies.
  1. DEPLE diploma (Elementary Diploma of Portuguese as a Foreign Language) or B1 level certificate issued by an accredited language school in Portugal, or a self-declaration stating the B1 level of proficiency in Portuguese if the applicant has not attended secondary education in Portuguese.
  2. DIPLE diploma (Intermediate Diploma of Portuguese as a Foreign Language) or B2 level certificate issued by an accredited language school in Portugal if the applicant did not attend secondary school in Portuguese.
  3. Self-declaration of compliance with the requirements or a document certified by a physician registered with the Portuguese Medical Association.

The documents referred to in sections 3, 4, and 5 must be translated if they are not in Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish and must be certified by the consular office or accompanied by an Apostille (Hague Convention) issued by a competent authority of the country of origin.

Under the present regulations, all documents must be verified within three months of the beginning of the cycle of studies.

Application ranking

  1. Applicants are ordered according to their final grade in descending order.
  2. The final grade corresponds to the sum of the grades obtained in the exams multiplied by their weighting. The highest grade is used when applying Article 3.1.1. a) (If the applicant has completed the Portuguese secondary education or has taken the exams as a self-proposed student, the following weighting is applied: Biology and Geology and Physics and Chemistry – 50% / 50% or Biology and Geology and Mathematics – 50% / 50% or Biology and Geology and Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences – 50% / 50%).
  3. Considering the existence of several grading systems, grades for admission must be expressed on a 0-200 scale.
  4.  If two or more applicants are equally ranked in the last position of the ranking, additional vacancies shall be created
