The Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) is a member of the Qn University Alliance. This is an inter-university campus project consisting of ten European higher education institutions and aimed at providing flexible curricula and enhancing the social impact of the training and research produced in academia.
The Qn Alliance intends to undertake a 'fair, social, digital, and green' transformation over the next four years. Therefore, a funding application will be submitted to the European Union (EU) in the next few weeks to support and develop the project.
The Alliance is formed by ten higher education institutions from Italy (Università degli Studi di Urbino Carlo Bo), Spain (Universidad Internacional de Valencia), Portugal (ESEnfC), Romania (Universitatea "Dunărea de Jos" din Galați), Turkey (Abdullah Gül Üniversitesi), Germany (Hochschule Aalen), Poland (Powiślańska Szkoła Wyższa), Latvia (Ekonomikas un Kultūras augstskola), France (EDC Paris Business School), and Albania (Universiteti Europian i Tiranës).
For António Fernando Amaral, President of ESEnfC, "this alliance represents the future of higher education in Europe, where different institutions cooperate to achieve common goals, where interdisciplinary creation becomes easier and more focused on European and global societal challenges, and where students have more opportunities to pursue their careers in a truly international environment."
The Qn Alliance: European University aims to offer flexible curricula that facilitate mobility experiences (virtual or mixed), at any level of study, for learning, training, teaching, research, work, or knowledge sharing. It also aims to provide access to lifelong learning alternatives across various disciplines to obtain micro-credentials, allow students to design their curricula in a flexible way (conferring a European degree), and reflect the social, economic, and cultural diversity of the European population (inclusive and gender equality plans) while promoting open science practices, among others.
According to the Alliance, the transition will focus on aspects such as sustainability, technology, society, and governance.
Supported by the EU's Erasmus+ program, the "European Universities" initiative wishes to "contribute to the green, digital, and technological transition of HEIs in Europe, create more flexible teaching and learning paths, strengthen cooperation between HEIs, promote excellence, innovation, inclusion, and sustainability, and develop European regions and civic engagement".
