The Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) will host the 5th Biennial European Conference of Sigma Theta Tau International on 27-30 May 2020.
The decision was announced at the 4th STTI Biennial European Conference which took place on 4-6 June 2018, at the Cambridge campus of the Anglia Ruskin University.
The ESEnfC Phi Xi Chapter applied to host this Conference in response to a call by Sigma European Region, which is composed of six chapters located in England, Armenia, The Netherlands, Sweden, Wales, and Portugal.
According to Maria de Lurdes Lomba, ESEnfC professor and Phi Xi Chapter president (second from left to right), «the Phi Xi Chapter aims to stimulate networking and collaboration among STTI members and other nurses from Europe and the rest of the world», as well as «to catalyze change for improving citizens’ health and making a difference in their well-being».

The ESEnfC Phi Xi Chapter was created in September 2011. It is composed of nurses from higher education and health institutions.
STTI is an honor society of Nursing whose activities aim to improve the health of the populations through the scientific development of Nursing practice.
