Rui Gonçalves, Professor of the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC), was unanimously elected as representative of the Ordem dos Enfermeiros (OE) in the steering committee of the European Forum of National Nursing and Midwifery Associations (EFNNMA), which was created in 1996.
The ESEnfC Professor, who is currently the Vice-President of the OE Nursing Council, was elected during the 20th EFNNMA meeting that took place on 2-3 March in Berlin.
According to Rui Gonçalves (in the photo), «it is an honor to represent the Portuguese nursing professionals in this renowned institution that works strategically with the World Health Organization (WHO) to influence health policies in Europe».
The ESEnfC Professor (member of the Scientific-Pedagogical Unit of Medical-Surgical Nursing) stated that it is a «privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to improving the quality of health services and nurses’ working conditions» in Europe.
The EFNNMA serves as a link between policy-makers and the 6 million nurses and midwives in the WHO European Region (who constitute the largest group of health care workers in almost every country).
