Welcome to the 6th Congress on Nursing Research of Ibero-American and Portuguese-speaking Countries and to the 2nd International Symposium on Evidence-Based Health Care.
This biennial event is organized by the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA: E), evaluated and accredited by the Foundation for Science and Technology and hosted by the Nursing School of Coimbra.
The UICISA: E researches in the field of nursing and health sciences. Its mission is to develop R&D activities at an international and interdisciplinary level to respond to complex problems in a sustainable and socially responsible manner, within the context of health promotion, disease prevention, and care of the sick, disabled, and end-of-life person.
The Unit aims:
- (I) to develop research in priority areas of health that generates relevant scientific contributions to the advancement of knowledge and to achieve high-value healthcare;
- (II) to develop experimental and applied research in healthcare technology for the creation of medical devices/technical procedures;
- (III) to carry out R&D activities aimed to synthesize and implement the best available evidence to promote evidence-informed nursing care;
- (IV) to train researchers, from initiation to advanced research, through the development of activities of: scientific research, leadership of interdisciplinary programs of research, and production, communication, synthesis, and application of scientific knowledge.
The UICISA: E includes approximately 170 PhD and non-PhD researchers of around 24 academic and medical institutions, who operate in more than 30 international networks of interest for nursing in the world, influencing policies, leading and collaborating on funded projects.
This moment, when researchers meet from different parts of the world, is an excellent, though only online, opportunity to share experiences and research results which can help to guide the action of each professional, promote new educational contexts and generate impact on health care with benefits for all.
