Summary
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) are global health problems of particular relevance in Latin America, implying high costs and significant impacts both for people and for healthcare professionals and systems. Latin America faces ongoing social and financial challenges, which were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this complex scenario, healthcare organizations are under constant pressure to ensure access to quality healthcare, and structured education and training in this area are crucial for the professional development of healthcare professionals.
The HAInnovPrev project is expected to improve the quality of nursing curricula and education in the partner higher education institutions, promote the professional development of teachers and inter-institutional collaboration, and enhance students’ skills to adapt them to the needs of the job market and society, as well as promote HAI and AMR prevention and control, thus contributing to the overall improvement of safety and quality in healthcare. The project’s main outputs will be the HAInnovPrev model, simulation scenarios, and e-book (with two versions). All outputs will be adapted to the cultural context of Latin America and aimed at promoting the project’s sustainability.
