Student Ombudsman


COMPETENCES
According to Article 64 (2) of Subsection VII of the Statutes of the Nursing School of Coimbra, made public by Normative Order 20/2006 of the Diário da República (Official Portuguese Journal) no. 55 I Series-B of 17th March 2006, the Student Ombudsman is responsible for:
a) Analyzing students’ complaints and appeals and, in the case of deciding in favour of the complainant, making pertinent recommendations to the competent bodies in order to solve them;
b) Making general recommendations so as to protect students’ interests, namely within the scope of the pedagogical activity and the School's social services;
c) Promoting activities, while monitoring the efficiency of the services which are made available for students.


PRESENTATION OF COMPLAINTS
The complaints must include the student’s full identification (name, student number, email address and/or address and/or telephone number), as well as the description of the facts in an objective manner, while giving the necessary information to check the facts, which may include witnesses.


CONTACT
The Ombudsman is responsible for defending students’ interests, and so he/she should be informed about the problems related to the pedagogical activity and the School's social services which are not solved by those bodies.
When one resorts to the Ombudsman this guarantees that all cases are carefully and objectively analyzed and that they will be dealt with. All efforts will be made so that students’ rights are respected and their contact with the different bodies of the ESEnfC is fair and legal.
In order to facilitate the identification and standardization of complaints, the following form is made available and it is directly sent to the Ombudsman.
You may also use other written forms of communication (letter, fax, email) which should be sent to the ESEnfC or handed in at the Reception of Campus A or B, and addressed directly to the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman is available to meet with students in office 17 on Campus B, at another location which may be agreed, as long as it is set up beforehand.
