The QAB
The Quality and Assessment Board (QAB) (Conselho para a Qualidade e Avaliação) is a Body of the Nursing School of Coimbra (Art. 20 (2)(c) – ESEnfC Statutes, 2008).
Mission
To promote and control the quality and assessment of the ESEnfC and its programes, being a strategic vector in the promotion of continuous improvement of the processes and services based on dialogue, participation and intersubjective validation and on the methodological and ethical principles of research in the search for rigor, transparency and self-improvement and in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the ESEnfC, focusing on the satisfaction of the stakeholders.
Vision
The QAB is guided by national and international guidelines, and it is a reference in the quality assurance and continuous improvement processes of higher education nursing institutions.
Collection and use of information
About the level of satisfaction of the educative community (teachers, staff, students, alumni, tutors of clinical practice and head nurses of the services/units, employers,…)
Application of more than 25 000 questionnaires/year and respective data analysis
Conduction of internal audits
Promotion and dissemination of reports (self-assessment, year, programme, employability, integration,…)
Internal and external presentations and their preparation (oral presentations, articles…)
Competences (Art 62 - ESEnfC Statutes, 2008)
1 - The Quality and Assessment Board is responsible for promoting and controlling the quality and assessment of the ESEnfC and its programmes.
2 - In terms of quality, the Board is responsible for:
a) The promotion of all of the initiatives and measures which support the systematic adoption of a quality policy and its supervision regarding all of the sectors and action areas of the ESEnfC, encouraging a quality culture and institutional practices and ensuring its effective and continuous implementation;
b) Proposing the standardization of procedures towards quality, whenever necessary, for which it should draw up procedure manuals to be used at all levels, after collecting relevant information from the competent bodies and obtaining their validation from the bodies which hold legal responsibility for this matter.
3 – In terms of assessment, the Board is responsible for all of the internal missions developed at this level, being responsible for carrying out internal audits to the functional structures of the ESEnfC.
4 – The Board must draw up annual reports on its activities, including the self-assessment reports of the ESEnfC and its programmes.
5 – The Board must publicize the self-assessment and external assessment reports of the institution and its programmes on the School’s web page.
6 – The Board follows its own internal regulations.
