Project Summary
The Science DiabetICC Footwear project aims to address the lack of adjusted and adapted footwear for diabetic foot patients. This project aims to develop a new type of therapeutic footwear, with the following innovative characteristics: new insole and sole materials with a higher impact absorbing capacity, ability to adapt the shape, better recovery after loading, less abrasion, as well as the ability to reduce the risk for ulcer-related infections.
The project is developed by a consortium with complementary skills that is composed of: ICC - Indústrias e Comércio de Calçado S.A., the University of Minho (IPC - Institute for Polymers and Composites; 2C2T - Centro de Ciência e Tecnologia Têxtil; CF-UM-UP - Centro de Física), and the Nursing School of Coimbra (UICISA: E – Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing).
